(A) Knows the qualities, principles, skills, and styles of effective leadership;
(B) Knows strategies of leadership designed to enhance the learning environment of schools;

(D) Understands the important role of the school counselor as a system change agent; and
(E) Understands the school counselor’s role in student assistance programs, school leadership, curriculum, and advisory meetings.

(A) Participates in the design, implementation, management, and evaluation of a comprehensive developmental school counseling program; and
(B) Plans and presents school-counseling-related educational programs for use with parents and teachers such as: parent education programs, materials used in classroom guidance, and advisor and advisee programs for teachers.

Leadership: Knowledge: A: In the Leadership in School Counseling course that I completed, I read the book Influencer (Maxfield, Grenny, & Patterson, 2007), which outlined effective leadership qualities and techniques. I also learned about specific leadership skills in School Counseling.
Leadership: Knowledge:B: In the Leadership in School Counseling course that I completed, I learned how to use the Redesigning School Counseling website, which outlines how to design and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program.
Leadership: Knowledge:D : In my internship course, I completed a paper where I outlined my commitment to being a systems change agent and discussed the necessity of school counselors to act as leaders in this way. The paper can be found here.
